For Young Moms
Empowering Moms is an exciting and educational program dedicated to strengthening the lives of young women, 13 - 25 years of age, who have recently become mothers. The mentorship program offers support through engaging workshops, group sessions and one-on-one mentorship with a suitable volunteer mentor.
About the Program:
Empowering Moms provides young moms with one-on-one mentors that have been screened, and trained. Each mentor receives extensive training and on-going support throughout the program to ensure the success of the mentoring match for the entire academic year cycle.
Empowering Moms offers engaging workshops with practical life-skills while educating the young women on topics such as:
• Education & Goal setting
• Self-Esteem & Confidence building
• Physical & Sexual Health
• Decision Making & Critical Thinking skills
• Budgeting & Time Management
• Child health issues & Parenting skills
The goal of the program is to inspire young women through mentorship, build their self-esteem, grow confident as a person, and as a new mother. We believe that by giving them the tools, a network of support and resources they will be able to offer their children a great start in life.
We have trained client support workers who can help you sort through truthful, complete information that will empower you to make decisions that you can be proud of for a lifetime. We can help you talk to your partner and family. Hundreds of women from Kamloops area have been where you are and we have helped them make it through.
Free pregnancy tests are available at our Centre, however, we recommend you confirm your pregnancy with a doctor.
